BUT YET FUCKING KUNG FU PANDA 2 DID?!
WHAT THE FUCK ACADEMY?! WHAT THE FUCK?!
Idk if the Academy considers this, but Tintin is not an example of actual animation cinema, but more of live-action cinema using animation as a medium, like in Avatar. That’s…
To add to your comment, I agree that it’s motion capture, but in the end it should be nominated for Best Animated Feature because there are probably animation techniques that are applied.
Like example, they probably have to move an arm or something if it didn’t work like the way they visioned it. Also they probably had to animate Snowy (Milo). I don’t know since I don’t know the behind the scene stuff.
Also I was really frustrated that they didn’t nominate Tangled. They used lots of new techniques that were never done in the animation world before. Her hair? They had to create that technology in order to make her hair look like it did.
I just don’t pay attention to Academy Awards anymore really.
I totally agree with you, there’s always animation behind motion-capture, but I think that in this case it was used to enchance that “live-action” feel to the movie instead of making it more animation like.
Tangled is a piece of art in terms of animation techniques. Not only the hair, but it’s one of the few films that present not-at-all-cartoonish, proportioned, realistic human characters. And all the effort to use 3D but still keep the classic-2D-disney-film was amazing and worth it. Not to mention it took 7 years to produce.
I always end up frustrated at those, so yeah, let us nevermind A_A.
